Smoked salmon mise en bouche
A mise en bouche is is a single, bite-sized hors d’œuvre, these, often accompanied by a complementing wine, and they are served to prepare the guest for the meal and to offer a glimpse into the menu.
And these smoked salmon size bite mise en bouche are delicious and so easy to do! They are a fixe dish over my parents in law, and I just love how fancy these are. This is the perfect way of beginning the last supper of this year! So As much as I enjoy smoked salmon and capers on crackers, I wanted to make something a little lighter for this New Year’s Eve.
Smoked salmon mise en bouche
Ingredients
- 8 ounces of good quality smoked salmon
- 3 Baby romaine lettuce leaves
- For the cream cheese:
- 1/2 package cream cheese 4 ounces, softened
- 1 medium cucumber peeled, seeded, and finely grated
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon chopped fresh chives
- Mini capers optional
- Salmon Roe optional
Instructions
- Peel and seed the cucumber then grate it over the finest side of the grater, then put it in a colander and sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon of salt over and let it stand for at least 15 minutes. Then squeeze all the liquid out. Mix with the cream cheese and chives, season to taste with salt and pepper and keep in the fridge until use.
- Spoon the cucumber cream cheese mixture evenly onto the lettuce leaves and top that with small pieces of the smoked salmon and then garnish with mini capers and / or salmon roe.

Smoked salmon mise en bouche
Ingredients

Y estos bocadillos de salmón son deliciosos y tan fácil de hacer! Son un plato fijo donde mis suegros, y me encanta lo lujosos que son. Esta es la manera perfecta de comenzar la última cena de este año! A mí me encanta el salmón ahumado y alcaparras sobre galletitas, pero yo quería hacer algo un poco más ligero para la víspera de Año Nuevo.

Wow, these look gorgeous! I can only imagine a big plate of these at a New Year’s Eve party. I tried my hand at smoking salmon for the first time this year, and I was surprised at how well it turned out. I’ll definitely pull this recipe back up next time I make a batch. Delicious!
