This Sheet pan pork chops, Brussels sprouts, and apple recipe was inspired by my Wednesday trip to the supermarket when I decide on what fresh produce to use on my next week's menu.
People are always asking me how I make my recipes and I always reply that most of the recipes I make for the blog are part of the meals I make for my family. Some may be for special occasions but most including today's recipe, are part of the daily menu of my home.
Where I tend to spend the most time is in the fresh vegetable section, it is no longer uncommon to see fresh vegetables that We didn't find some years ago unless they were imported.
Local production has greatly increased, which makes me happy because when I was small things that my mom had to make the menu of the house were so limited.
Ingredients
- 4 pork chops
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 apples cut into 6 slices
- 6 bacon strips cut into small pieces
- 1 onion cut in julienne
- 1 clove garlic crushed
- 1 package 16 ounces of Brussels sprouts, cut in half
- 5 sprigs fresh thyme
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 F (180 C).
- Grease a baking pan, then add the pork chops, Brussels sprouts halved, sliced apples, bacon and sprinkle with onions, garlic and fresh thyme. Put salt and pepper to taste pour over the olive oil.
- Bring the pan to heat and brown all the ingredients, about 5-8 minutes over medium-high heat. Then finish cooking in the oven about 25 minutes or until chops are cooked. Add trickles of water while in the oven to keep it from drying.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your meal.
Nutrition
Also, I have to admit that imported products (of course not all) are reasonably priced, of course, I do not mean imported fruits (Those are always pricey), but most imported vegetables can nowadays be included in family meals and these sheet pan pork chops, Brussels sprouts, and apples are a perfect example.
For me, the best way to cook vegetables is a combination with meat and cooked in the cooking juices where all flavors are enhanced. For Brussels sprouts, which are not very popular because of their bitter taste, this is essential; also the idea of making a whole meal in one pot or tray just makes me happy, there are always many different textures and many flavors.
These sheet pan pork chops, Brussels sprouts, and apples recipe was decided on the market when I saw Brussels sprouts, which to me are like cabbage (with a more concentrated flavor), and I love to associate cabbage with pork and also love to associate pork with cooked fruit, so in my mind, I saw a tray with pieces of pork, cabbage and apples, as the chops were cut without much fat, I decided to add some bacon and to combine all the ingredients on my try I used fresh thyme.
I hope you can try this recipe and you like the combination of flavors I wanted to achieve.
Happy cooking!
