We are continuing with our recipes for thanksgiving dinner. Now is the turn for potatoes dinner rolls. Well this warm rolls will be one of the perfect sides to go on your thanksgiving table. I don’t know about you but I love warm bread with butter, plus nothing beats fresh warm bread made by you! And they will be great for leftovers sandwiches.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup or 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup reserved cooked potato water or just warm water
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup mashed potatoes
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 packages active-dry yeast
  • 5 - 6 1/2 cups bread flour
  • Butter for brushing

Instructions

  • In a large pot filled with water, cook your potatoes until soft, drain water (keep one cup of this water) and then mach the potatoes, for this recipe you will need a cup of mashed potatoes (about 2 potatoes)
  • Then over medium low heat, add the milk and the butter, cook until the butter melts, then add the potato water, let it cool down, when this mixture is still warm sprinkle the yeast over it, let it rest for a few minutes until it gets foamy or bubbly.
  • In a bowl, mix together the yeast mixture with the mashed potatoes; add the sugar, salt and eggs and mix until well combined, then add the flour, this will form a smooth dough. Place the dough in a greased bowl. Cover with greased plastic wrap and let rise in a warm in place until doubled, about 1 hour.
  • Punch down dough, divided into small portions (about 50 g each) then shape each piece into a ball. Place buns in a greased baking pan. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes.
  • Brush rolls with melted butter. Bake at 375 F for 15-20 minutes until golden. Remove from oven and serve warm.

Continuamos con la serie de recetas para la cena de Acción de Gracias, ahora es el turno de los panecillos de papas. Bueno estos panecillos tibios serán uno de los acompañantes perfectos para su mesa de acción de gracias. Yo no sé ustedes, pero me encanta el pan caliente con mantequilla, además no hay nada mejor pan caliente recién hecho por usted! Y serán maravillosos para hacer sándwiches con las sobras.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 taza o una barrita de mantequilla sin sal
  • Media taza de agua reservada papa cocida o simplemente agua caliente
  • 1 taza de leche
  • 1 taza de puré de patatas
  • De azúcar 1/2 taza
  • 1 cucharadita de sal
  • 2 huevos grandes
  • 2 paquetes de levadura activa seca
  • 5 - 6 1/2 tazas de harina de pan
  • Mantequilla para el cepillado

Instructions

  • En una olla grande llena de agua, cocer las papas hasta que estén blandas, drenar el agua (guardar una taza de esta agua) y luego majar las papas, para esta receta se necesita una taza de puré de papas (unos 2 papas).
  • A fuego medio bajo, agregue la leche y la mantequilla, cocinar hasta que la mantequilla se derrita, añadir el agua de papas, deje que se enfríe, cuando esta mezcla este tibia, espolvorear la levadura sobre esta mezcla, dejar reposar durante unos minutos hasta que se vuelve espumosa o burbujeante.
  • En un tazón, mezcle la levadura con el puré de papas; añadir el azúcar, la sal y los huevos y mezclar hasta que estén bien combinados, luego, agregar la harina, esto va a formar una masa suave. Coloque la masa en un recipiente engrasado. Cubra con papel plástico y deje crecer en un ambiente cálido en su lugar hasta que doble de tamaño, aproximadamente 1 hora.
  • Golpee la masa, dividida en porciones pequeñas (alrededor de 50 g cada uno) y luego dar forma a cada pieza en una bola. Colocar las bolitas en una bandeja de hornear engrasada. Cubra con papel plástico y dejar levar hasta que doble de tamaño nuevamente, unos 30 minutos.
  • Pinte los panecillos con mantequilla derretida. Hornee a 375 F por 15-20 minutos hasta que estén dorados. Retire del horno y sirva caliente.
